A customer in TX was recently in some hot water with the local municipal water department. Due to excessive rains near the coast of Texas, the water levels have been higher than usual. The company fills storage tanks with diesel at its facility. However one day the tanks were overfilled and instead of going into the ground, they diesel dispersed out via the high rain water and into the local municipal water stations. The pipes at the water station became clogged; the water became tainted, among other issues. The company reached out to Abanaki for emergency advice on what would remove the diesel from the water and Abanaki suggested 2 4” PetroXtractors be used to remedy the situation. The company decided on 2 Explosion Proof 4” PetroXtractors with the Discrete Security shelters Abanaki offers.

The Abanaki PetroXtractor is a dependable and cost effective means of removing oil, fuel, and other floating hydrocarbons from water where access to the fluid surface is limited. It is part of an efficient groundwater remediation system for groundwater contaminated by oil, using existing recovery and monitoring wells. Often, the PetroXtractor Well Oil Skimmer working alone will reduce oil or fuel content to an acceptable E.P.A. level. Models are available for two inch, four inch, and six inch or larger ID well casings, with removal rates up to 12 gph (based on SEA 30 motor oil). Depths of 100 feet or more can be accommodated without the use of pumps. Our secured enclosures are used in situations where there is a need to keep the oil skimmer from being tampered with or in situations where the operation of oil removal equipment may be deemed unsightly. These lockable poly shelters are available in two sizes to accommodate various oil skimmer sizes and option configurations. A 30- or 55-gallon drum can be used for oil collection depending on the size of the enclosure chosen.
