Everyone always says that we should treat every day like it’s Earth Day. Here at Abanaki we really strive to do just that. We know how important preserving the Earth is. In our offices, we replaced all paper towel dispensers with Dyson hand dryers to help dramatically cut down on our paper waste. Each desk comes with its own waste basket and a recycle bin and Abanaki employees are diligent about recycling everything they can. In our warehouse we have giant bins that hold paper, magazines, cardboard, aluminum, and plastic that get recycled weekly. We are sticklers for using every square inch of a piece of paper before it gets tossed into recycling. We have employees in both our US and UK offices that ride their bikes to work (when weather permits, which of course can be tricky in Ohio). Abanaki employees are encouraged to keep plants in their offices, and we keep routine maintenance with our lawn care and we specifically select flowers that will attract bees and beneficial insects.

Abanaki has donated to numerous charities over the years that benefit clean drinking water or organizations that plant trees and restore forests. Recently Abanaki has teamed up with Pollution Engineering Magazine to sponsor Engineers Without Borders Case Western Reserve University branch. This is an extraordinary group of students that engineer infrastructures that improve the quality of life in underprivileged communities worldwide by finding ways to grant them access to energy sources, clean water, cleaner sanitary conditions, technology, and agriculture. Additionally they have many local projects that help better communities in the Greater Cleveland area. We are thrilled and excited to bring up to date news on this group’s endeavors and the positive impact they’re making on people and the environment.

And of course we have our oil skimmers that do their part to keep things clean. Our oil skimmers are an environmentally sound choice for removing hydrocarbons from water. There have been hundreds of companies that have made their application more environmentally friendly, simply by adding our oil skimmer to the process. Oil skimmers simplify retrieving the hydrocarbons and disposing of them properly.
